Final book of the Ash and Sand trilogy. Ruka has developed so much from his outcast starting. His two sides both have great impact to the story. Bukayag, I feel you have to snarl his name, is the ‘I am him’ in this book. Aiden I can see no better way for his story to play out, though not my preferred outcome. Kale has confirmed to me he is still a brat. The ending Kale loses his saltiness after realizing what is truly happening. The development of the infantry into mesonite-like army, I always knew the true intention in their leader. Son of heaven is so blind by light, that part was amusing. I really enjoyed the epilogue, whenever I watch movies, shows, or listen to books, I always want to know what happens after. This epilogue nicely tied the ribbon on the gift for me.
