Dear Mom,
Life hasn’t always been fair to you.
You sacrificed for me, expecting nothing in return.
Your heart heavy and your mind restless,
Suffering in silence, carrying all of the burden.
In the quiet of the night, your sadness echoed,
As the burden you carried remained heavy and unspoken.
Your pillows bore witness to those silent tears,
As doubts filled your mind, exposing hidden fears.
Life hasn’t always been fair to you,
Yet you remained resilient through it all.
Your love remained steady and true,
Acting as a guide through the most difficult of times.
That same love began to bloom in me,
Like the petals on a rose would do in spring.
Each passing day brought forth a new lesson,
That left in me an everlasting impression.
You sheltered me through my youth,
From the storms that life began to brew.
Your love became my guide in the darkest of nights,
Pointing me in the direction of Hope’s reassuring light.
I apologize for not understanding then,
All of the pain and responsibility you carried in silence.
And if you haven’t heard it yet,
I am thankful for you and all of the lessons that now live within my conscience.
I am grateful for the time, sacrifices, tears, wisdom, and love that you gave and shared.
The words I say and write may never be enough
to express all the thanks, I want to share.
But to start I’ll say, I Love You and Happy Mother’s Day.
